PSA: Today is September 30...

...do you know where your copy of A Night in the Lonesome October is?

Our copy is on the kitchen table. Later this evening, Steve and I will flip for who gets to read the prologue. The lucky winner will then do hisorher duty, and we will adjourn until tomorrow night, when tonight's loser will read Chapter One, and so on, progressing one chapter at a time down the month until the Big, Big Climax on All Hallow's Eve.

Who's with us?

On the shelf right behind me, as always. I keep good track of it.

:)

Mine appears to be lost. I looked for it on the shelf, but it wasn't where it was supposed to be. I suspect I loaned it to someone and then forgot who.

According to Barnes and Noble and Borders on-line, the book will be available in December. I got a copy from the library.

I don't know how I missed this Roger Zelazny book. But a copy has my name on it at the library. The read aloud will commence tonight. =)

Um... somewhere in the vast pile of books I like to style my library? I read it last year, I KNOW it's in there somewhere...

"The reading" has been one of the best fall rituals in our house for many a year. Of course the beauty of being tonight's loser means not only getting to start the story tomorrow, but also end it on the 31st. Which is why a coin toss is the only fair way to handle it!

Edited for really bad writing.

Need to grab mine and do it. I was too busy last year to do it. Thanks for the reminder.

do you know where your copy of A Night in the Lonesome October is?

Sure. Sitting at the computer, I just need to turn my head to see it on the shelf. (It's nicely visible, too, because it's the last book on the last fiction shelf - at least until the other Zelaznys in the to-read pile make their way to the main shelves.)

Who's with us?

Not this year, I think. I only just read it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, because I was too eager to wait for October. I'm not sure October in Australia is the right time to read it, anyway. (Spring is here, Spring is here, life is skittles and life is beer...)

Want to know something really funny? I'd never heard of this book, so I go to my local library site and type in the title; and there it is, Night in the Lonesome October. I borrow it and start reading and I'm absolutely mystified; the book is insipid. I throw it aside in disgust and think about giving you a piece of my mind. Back on your blog I find I've got the right title but the wrong author. I'm too embarrassed to tell you who the author of the book I borrowed is, but I can tell you, I'm very relieved.
