I hope that you won't think me unfeeling or insensitive, but when I read your description of the consequences of Trooper's ill-chosen landing spot in bed, I laughed because the whole incident reminded me of a Rube Goldberg gone completely wrong. I hope your hip has recovered.
I have had similar experiences occasionally with my 16 lb.+ male tuxedo cat. Sometimes, when he gets up on the bed at night as I am falling asleep, he walks across my legs in the wrong place and hits a nerve. Needless to say, he gets shifted off my legs very quickly at those times.
