What sort of outage length do you feel you need to plan for? That sounds like a whole lot of propane, but I don't know how much propane a generator like that uses. I'm sure they know what they're talking about.
Here, I plan for a 4 day max outage, which has only happened three times since I've been here (over 40 years) - once during a snowstorm of the century, once during a freak lightning storm that took out every transformer in the area, and once after the big Loma Prieta earthquake.
