We've had as much as an 11-day outage, during The Great Ice Storm of 1997. Two and three days during the winter aren't...uncommon, though less common than when we first moved in. Thinking about it, the Experts are probably factoring in Winter, with the two dedicated tank business.

Last year, we had 10 feet of snow, and most of it stayed where it was once it landed. Mind you, we didn't lose the power, except for a couple of instances that lasted less than three days, each, so we were lucky, last year.

If we're less lucky, and the generator comes into use for a couple, four days, we won't necessarily just be able to have the propane truck come in and top the tank off. If the tanks go where The Guy from Dead River thinks they need to go, they'll be behind Mount Snowplow, which last year achieved heights greater than 18 feet. If the tanks can go on the other side of the house, closer to the generator, then we'll have to have someone plow from the road to the tanks, a considerable distance over the lawn, and down a hill -- risky terrain, even for an experienced plow-guy.

Better to have the second tank, in case, and never use it, is what I'm thinking the reasoning must be.
