Breathe...

Rain today, and the car needed front tires. The guy at the garage says the wear pattern looks like maybe bad bearings, so we moved the back tires up to the front and put the new tires on the back. He tells me, very earnestly, to come in soon to get the bearing situation taken care of. Right.

The credit card's maxed, which is Bad. Patia's eye is weepy, with the lid at half-mast, so that's a vet visit tomorrow. The money that's owed -- that's promised -- still isn't here, and the upfront from the audiobook will only float us through the May bills. I'm too old for this.

Despite an attempted panic attack, there's another 300-odd words on The Nameless, which took 'way too long to bleed out my fingers and onto the screen (Back-brain: "I can't breathe!" Writer-brain: "Tough." Back-brain: "I'm dying here, I tell you! I can't breathe!" Writer-brain: "Write now. Breathe later."), but did get done -- and they're good words, too. Surprise. My chest hurts, and I'm tired.

Should've bought a lottery ticket.

It's still raining, and Scrabble's asleep in an apostrophe on the rug in front of the file cabinet.

Chronicle arrived today, and I see you and Steve own this issue, what with the cover, the photo of you in the news section and the interview in the back. Very much a step up from last issue, in which Warren featured the editor of one of his other magazines.
