Yes, changing the Hi Def settings helps.
Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and get a newer player.
If you have a GOOD internet connection and your player supports it, sometimes you can get an update for your player through the setting menu of the player.
Most new TVs also can be upgraded the same way.
