Weather, weather, everywhere
Monday, March 27th, 2017 09:42 am31F/0C this morning and raining. We shall leave early for the cardio gym.
Yesterday, chores were done, and a Beginning was Made, including teasing a name out of a somewhat reluctant character, naming hours, and considering motivations. Five hundred sixteen words for the win.
Fifth of Five is on the move.
Today, as above, the cardio gym, and perhaps a minor errand, then back home to finish the Fine Laundry, and do a blankie run. And write.
Everybody stay safe.

Bad move. Last night the woollies were back on.

Date: 2017-03-28 08:37 pm (UTC)Also let it be said that my office is again moving the half mile across campus, and that today is raining.
I got someone to put my 'window box" of 4 plants on their rolling cart, and deliver it to my new office. One of these plants is 41 years old, and has been mostly the same size, for the last 10 years, as I was seated in an inside office. When I moved to my current office, and window, I was about to take a 2 week vacation and got a cart, and rolled all the plants down to a plant sitter. The plants have been sitting in a nice northern window for almost 2 years. I've had the jewel orchids bloom, and the 40 year old 'Wart plant' that I brought from Arizona has newly sprouted a clone, and now the story begins.
So I have a Lucky Bamboo, actually Dracaena Sanderiana. Not knowing Latin, I've always thought of this as my Sand Dragon plant. The original cutting was purchased in Orlando, during an Oasis convention where Andre Norton attended. Andre left us for the stars 12 years ago, and lived in TN for about 5-6 years before that, so this Plant is between 17 and 20 years old. There were the 3 original shoots, lost the variegated one, had a couple of pot changes, I now have about 5 shoots. This tree is around 3.5-4 feet high, and would be more, but I cut back, and re-rooted the tallest shoot. The current pot is a 6 inch high, 9 inch diameter, dark red, purchased for $2 for charity. The pot is filled with white pebbles, and roots. This plant should never have any soil.
As it is time to once again move my office, back that 1/2 mile, and up a flight of stairs, and since the plant is big for a moving cart, I decided to take it home this evening. So picture Irene at 4' 10"" carrying, at waist height a 4 foot high plant. I left it at the door, and went for the auto. I put the plant on the floor behind the passenger seat, and not having cargo wire or tape, wrapped the seat belt back, and strapped the plant in. Yes with gentle rain dripping down on my back.
I only live 5 miles from work, and didn't want to get on the highway, so I drove home at the posted 35 mph, with the tree leaves waving to me (in the rear mirror) every time I hit a pot-hole.
[See that waving green vegetable from the corner of the piloting chamber....?]
Home & brought the plant in, and put it on the kitchen counter. It's about 3 inches from the ceiling. So now I will definitely think of this as the Sussdriad [sorry for bad spelling], and wait for it to talk to me.
