In the Blue of the Evening

...we contemplate the day. The Too Very Hot Day. How hot was it? It was so hot that we actually went over to Home Despot and bought blackout shades for the living room windows where the sun pours in from 4 p.m. til 8 p.m., soon to be 9 p.m. or 10 (we don't quite have twenty-four hours of sunshine in the summer, but the nights get pretty dern short there for a couple weeks). We also bought bug juice for the windshield washers -- incredible numbers of bugs this year. Yesterday, on the way to Unity via the low road, it sounded like we were in a hail storm, so many hard little bodies shattered themselves against the windshield. Have I mentioned that I really don't like bugs?

The joys of the day included the arrival of -- a check! The June bills can be paid. And there was much rejoicing.

Spent a good chunk of yesterday, last night and this morning kicking around ideas for a possible new project. We'll do some role-playing and what-iffing tonight and see what hangs together at the end of it.

Money! You got money!

Does this mean the logjam might have broken?

We're waiting for the ice to break on the Santa Cruz. Does that every year when it hits 100F. Was a mere and piddling 86 today.

I sure hope this is an Omen and that everyone's back-logged checks are (really) in the mail.

From your mouth to Bastet's ears.

And hoping we aren't headed for a more The Omen sort of omen.
