Video Queen
Friday, May 21st, 2004 06:33 pmSo, Barbara was able to oblige me by reducing the amount of excess hair by half. I suggested that she shave my head, but she wasn't going there. Just as well, I guess; the upkeep would've been more than I'm willing to commit to.
We ran the last of the trip-related errands this afternoon, got an oil change and the tires rotated on the truck, mailed the SRM orders in hand, and picked up our incoming. Christmas photos from Steve's stepfather; the new Chronicle; and a copy of the TV interview we filmed back in March.
At home, I set the laundry to cooking and Steve popped the tape into the VCR.
It's ...disconcerting... to watch yourself on tape. I failed to project my voice -- something that will come as no surprise to anyone who's ever been on a panel with me -- but managed overall to sit still and comport myself like a gentleman. I knew I talked with my hands, but it surprised me to see that actually I talk with my whole body, almost acting out the sentences. I didn't know I did that. Alas the Maggie's Farm reference was not edited out -- that'll larn me to tell obscure Dylan jokes.
Laundry, laundry and more laundry this evening, as well as some pre-trip filing. The sample chapters are about 500 words long at the moment, and I still don't have a good ending for the synopsis. Scrabble has suggested, "They all got tuna and catnip and slept in the sun 'til they woke up." Which isn't exactly what I'm looking for.
