So, the Miri story is done in first draft and immediately I realize that I'm going to have to rewrite Big Chunks of it because I've got too many viewpoints. Still and all I *am* taking today off to read Something Else. Something *fiction* Else. I'm giving Hambly's _Graveyard Dust_ some serious consideration, here, though _The Amulet of Samarkind_ looks yummy, too. Or maybe _Monstrous Regiment_. Never read a Terry Pratchett book before... Decisions, decisions.

Household appliances always know when money is low, yes, they do. Must find a way to get on that alert list. Today, the washer decided to make a Large Funny Noise while agitating a load of towels, *and* my printer decided to go plooey. My printer being an Optra T612, this is not a case of just-throw-it-away and get another one. Closest Lexmark repair shop is in ...Laconia, New Hampshire. Argh.

On the good news side, though, Suddenly and Without Warning, *Steve's* printer, which has shunned me and poor Zander for months, is now accepting print jobs from us. Small blessings.

I am now off of this infernal machine for the rest of the day. See you on the other side of a book!
