Adventures in banking this morning; but I finally got the New Zealand check deposited. Why on earth would a bank stamp a check "Non-negotiable A/C Only"? A recipe for disaster, even though it was clearly explained to me that what it means to say is that the recipient of the check can't just up and cash it; they must deposit it. All well and good, but the folks who need that information are the banks here. Grrr.

Still no Absolute Magnitude in the mailbox, which is too bad. Not only do I want to see "Sweet Waters" again, but there are several other stories in this issue I'm keen to read.

I've taken Crystal Dragon as far as I can, and so the last 54 pages now go to [livejournal.com profile] kinzel. Tomorrow, I'll sit down with the print out, lacking those last pages, which [livejournal.com profile] kinzel has gone over, and start the last read/clean-up.

Mozart is asleep in the rocking chair. Good plan, actually.

Illinois governor: No delays in birth control prescriptions

Friday, April 1, 2005 Posted: 7:29 PM EST (0029 GMT)

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- Gov. Rod Blagojevich approved an emergency rule Friday requiring pharmacies to fill birth control prescriptions quickly after a Chicago pharmacist refused to fill an order because of moral opposition to the drug.

The emergency rule takes effect immediately for 150 days while the administration seeks a permanent rule.

"Our regulation says that if a woman goes to a pharmacy with a prescription for birth control, the pharmacy or the pharmacist is not allowed to discriminate or to choose who he sells it to," Blagojevich said. "No delays. No hassles. No lectures."

Under the new rule, if a pharmacist does not fill the prescription because of a moral objection, another pharmacist must be available to fill it without delay.
