Mind you, we only live six miles out of town. Still, the critters treat it like a raging wilderness.

Take, for instance Mama Coon, who occasionally makes free with our bird feeders, and who makes certain to bring the kindergarten class by at the beginning of summer to do a hands-on demo. Last night, however, as [livejournal.com profile] kinzel and I were in the kitchen having a late snack, we heard the sounds of slurping from outside. We blinked at each other, then [livejournal.com profile] kinzel, who was closest, turned on the porch light and -- yup, there was a raccoon sitting on the railing, drinking out of the hummingbird feeder. Honestly! You'd think she'd call a taxi to bring her a six-pack out from the Coastal.

In Other News, it's raining this morning, and cool. And the hummingbird feeder is missing.
