Not only is this a desirable item in its own right, but it has, dare I say it, provenance, having arrived here in the Fortress of Solitude many years ago in a care package from another, and greater, science fiction writer. It has unfortunately spent almost all of its time here in the Northlands in its box at the top of the closet and really deserves to go to someone who will be able to sit it out and enjoy it.
Coincidentally, I just today learned that the National Carousel Association, in the proud ranks of which I slouch, is having its 2007 convention in Seattle this September, including visits to seven wooden carousels, the International Museum of Carousel Art and other delights too numerous to mention. Maybe if the figurine does really well, I'll be able to attend.
Or not.
The other chores of the day included bookkeeping and various Office Stuff(tm). I have to review SRM's corporate tax returns and sign off on them. Then, I can hunker down for a thousand words or so of Duainfey. Tomorrow is the Staff Gathering at work; a day of refreshments, workshops, activities, ice cream, and, oh, refreshments. All held outside in the glorious Maine weather -- which is forecast to be in the mid-to-upper sixties and cloudy. This works for me, since hiding from the sun is my business, but will likely disappoint others. Ah, well. Ice cream heals all wounds.
