Errands and Downbursts
Friday, June 22nd, 2007 07:53 pmThere was no food in the house. And I do mean no food. So,
kinzel and I arose from our connubial couch this morning, went to breakfast at a local restaurant, where I had (not very many) green eggs (and no ham at all), and
kinzel had pancakes, proving once again that
kinzel is Wise.
After breakfast, since we were Out and About anyway, we stopped by Blue Skye Auto to see if the most excellent Barry would show us the car he had found for us. It wasn't ready for Prime Time ("Doug's gonna be working on it this afternoon"), but we got to poke around, sit in it, turn on the engine and whatnot. "Whatnot" including
kinzel pushing the button to eject the cup holder -- and catching it when it ejected right out of the dashboard. The car itself seems sound enough from a cursory inspection -- a 1997 Legacy sedan in a sort of tired red, cloth seats, air conditioning works, and it hasn't been used as a smokehouse. Good enough for my daily twenty-four mile trip back and forth to work. So, we left Blue Skye, promising to visit again when the machine could be driven and more fully assessed.
Then it was out to the post office, where wonders of many kinds awaited us, including
kinzel's Early Birthday Present, and Captain Jack and the Mermaid, courtesy of
spiritdance.
After the post office, we hit, in rapid succession, Wal*Mart and Hannaford, came home, filled the freezer, the refrigerator, and to some lesser degree the pantry, had dinner and -- by now it was getting to be five o'clock -- went to work.
Unfortunately, work was slow; I'd left young Becca at a transition, which I know better than, but ...I did it anyway. This evening, I have abandoned her in mid-stride down the hall, much more promising for tomorrow.
