Films viewed in 2010

The Brothers Bloom: As far as I can make it, the story of a confidence game gone terribly wrong, or terribly right. I adored Bang Bang, but then that's probably predictable. I think that the story might have benefited by taking the road more traveled, and delivered a solid, frothy comedy in which everybody does, in the end, get what they wanted -- Stephen's definition of a successful con. Instead, it veers off into darker territory and tries to have an in-depth fifteen minute discussion of the meaning of life, the unpredictability of the universe, and the necessity to script one's lies well.

The to-do list is going to have to roll over into tomorrow. I'm calling it a day, having balanced a checkbook, done the dishes, and written 1,470 words. Filing and account-closing can wait a day. Or two.

It is, for those keeping score at home, still snowing. The weatherbeans have put their chips on the square marked Total Accumulation 8-12 Inches, with the storm going over by four o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Good thing Steve made chocolate chip cookies this morning. Just sayin'.
