That hollow sound you hear is Rolanni banging her head against Chapters 20 and 21.

Every! dern! book! I write at least one zipped chapter -- or, in the case of Carousel Tides two zipped chapters -- where everything that needs to happen, does, but in a highly condensed form, which then has to have water and other things -- like details -- added in, which very often results in there suddenly being two or even three chapters where the one, condensed, chapter had been.

You'd think I'd've learned better by now.

In other news, job training went well and I'm still on-course for a Monday start date, the laundry is done! done! I say, and if I catch either of you cats changing your jeans twice in one day, you can do your own laundry. So, there.

Thunderstorms with lotsa lightning maybe on the overnight, which will be pleasant.

And, now, I do believe that a glass of wine is in order.

I had a 15,000-word story that was actually a 400,000+ novel waiting for expansion.

Unpacking it was extremely painful. I empathize so, so much. :P

Console yourself with this thought

Last three books started (in first draft) in the wrong chapter. If I weren't allowed to revise, I'd have to find another line of work.

Did you get the thunderstorms last night? We didn't. It's hot and sticky here - which does not speak well for the quality of life today.

Alas, we did not get the thunderstorms last night, though the Weather Folken are still teasing us with the possibility of same this morning. What we have at the moment is 72F/22C under a sodden and lowering sky. If it doesn't rain, it's gonna get Ugly...

*covers eyes* I had to unpack it three times. Once to get it to 40,000 words, one more time to get it to 70,000, and then a final push to over 120,000.

By that time I was a wreck. To this day I squint at my short stories and scowl at the characters in them and shake them and say, "ARE YOU HIDING ANYTHING?? ARE YOU?? SPILL IT!"
