Note on a plastic deli container by the cash register in McCormick's Grocery, Unity, Maine:

"Donations for Donna Smith a waitress at the Homestead that is having Triple By Pass Surgery and doesn't have any insurance."

A woman came into our office with a flyer she hoped we would post in our window. The flyer requested donations to a non-profit offering services to the kidney-impaired. It started off, "Daer[sic] Friends." The rest of the flyer was on a par with the beginning. We were not impressed.
