[livejournal.com profile] kinzel and I were on the road early, stopping first at a "lifestyle expo" in Augusta (free tickets! go us!), then home the long way, with pizza.

Back at the ranch, I spent some time sorting through the classifieds, and got a resume and cover letter together. This is an unfairly nerve-wracking process, since if I 'fess up immediately to having committed novels, I'm "overqualified." On the other hand, if I omit 'fessing up and someone happens to recognize me (it's a small town, we've been in the paper, on the radio, and on television over the years; lots of people, alas, recognize me), they ask why I didn't "list all my experience," and wonder what else I might be "hiding" from them. I've lost both ways in recent memory, which makes me long for a Sekrit Identitee. Not that I'm likely to get one -- those things are expensive!

After all that, working on the story seemed easy. As reported yesterday, it's coming out any-which-way, but I think I'm wise to its nefarious plan now.

It was hot today -- stop laughing, you! Yes, you. -- and looking to be hotter tomorrow. Just when I'd gotten settled into autumn...
