we (mostly me) shovel the deck and the stairs, and a three or four foot path out in the general direction of the car. The car is *quite capable* thank you, of driving itself out of 8 to 12 inches of snow to the the road...
Then, we have the snowplow guy come in, and he pushes the snow out of the way. If we tried to shovel the snow all winter long I;d have no room to throw it... sometimes the piles the plow guy pushes get 8 to 10 feet tall, what with new snow falling on top the piles.
My teenagers were GLEEFUL this morning. I mad hot cereal and tea for them while they were out "shoveling"--more like goofing off for the hour delay before school. They didn't clear off my Van, but they sure had fun getting all snowy. Nice to know that the Lady has arrived in time for the holidays this year. Now, if she would just remember not to over stay her welcome.....
I'm jealous! Here in Minneapolis, MN, we've had some scattered snow showers that almost left some piles covering some of the grass past mid-morning once. IIRC, a storm or two have gone by to the south of us that left significant snow - Chicago has gotten more snow than we have! Waaahhhhh!!!!!
And the seven day forecast includes highs in the mid-40's tomorrow, and afternoon highs above freezing through next Wednesday! With maybe some snow showers - but with those temperatures, it's not going to stay long. :-(

We've gotten about 3/4s of an inch since Halloween. Completely disregarding yesterday's 0' F starting temp.

Mind you, I love rain, and I do realize that our winter rains are also cold and wet. But, there's a difference somewhere...
