What is that bright thing in the sky?

So, it stopped raining. Finally.

[livejournal.com profile] kinzel is on his way to the crepuscular and brooding southern estate where he spent his childhood moments like so many bright silver coins -- ahem.

To continue, [livejournal.com profile] kinzel is on his way down-coast to a sudden family conclave. Mozart, having seen The Suitcase safely out of the house, is in his hammock, sleeping the sleep of the justly exhausted. Scrabble has been into my office twice since 7:30 to go over the schedule for the next couple of days with me, and to assure herself that Necessary Duties Relating to Cats and Their Comfort are adequately covered during this unprecedented time of Staff Shortage.

Last evening, I mentioned that the mass market edition of Crystal Dragon is now available for pre-order. [livejournal.com profile] keristor promptly saw me and raised me to the tune of Duainfey, scheduled for release on September 2, 2008. Just in time for my birthday.

It's awfully pretty outside right now...I'm thinking I'll sneak out and go to Belfast for a couple hours; get a little salt air into the system, blow the cobwebs out of my alleged brain. Get some sun. Yeah.

What're y'all doing this weekend that's fun?
lagilman: coffee or die (free fall)

Getting back on the pony after five days of viral-enforced non-work. It may not be fun, but it will feel good.

Going to a housewarming sort of party thingy this evening, then an nMC (http://www.m-sampson.net/nmc/index.html) rehearsal tomorrow.

I think I may go spend a couple of hours doing needlepoint at a local coffee shop, mostly as a way to vacate the house while spraying. But it's a fun way to avoid the house, at least. Cleaning up after the spraying is not so much fun, alas. Oh! Or I could go to the craft store and buy supplies for my next project, since this one is, after a seven-year hiatus, almost finished!

My Early morning was spent on a bottle drive with my Boy Scout troop. This afternoon, I picked out paint and primer for the bathroom, sanded the "last" layer of plaster, and then removed the removables to find that there was a large un-patched hole behind the mirror.

GGGGRRRRRrrrrrrr!

Deep Cleansing Breath......

What did I do for fun this weekend? Friday I rode down in a van with 4 friends from Ann Arbor to St. Louis, to visit [livejournal.com profile] turnberryknkn and attend Crystal Ball, a large SCA dance event (along with a couple other carloads of folk from our area).

I managed to have a great time seeing old friends, meeting new people and dancing, despite coming down with a nasty cold which got increasingly worse during the trip down, and prevented me from doing some of the more aerobic dances (as colds tend to set off my asthma) or getting nearly as much sleep as I really needed. Much silliness, bad jokes, good jokes, interesting discussions, telling of stories, and so forth.

On the way home Sunday via I-55 toward Chicago, we saw a LOT of vehicles with deer in the truck beds or tied to the cars. What was odd to me was the fact that they were traveling north. Living in southeastern Michigan, it's a given that one goes up north to hunt, so all the cars with deer on them are going south.
