The purpose of the exercise was to make sure that there was enough wiggle-room in the timing to allow Daav to do Certain Necessary Things before he returns to Chonselta. I thought there was, and indeed, there is. And that is a Good Thing, because Mouse and Dragon starts inside of the winding-down of the last chapters of Scout.
