Scavenger Hunt!

I believe, but cannot prove, that -- somewhere in a published Liaden novel or story -- there is a scene wherein another character accounts for one of Korval as being "from Solcintra," whereupon the Korval answers that indeed, no; they are situated to the X of the city.

I need, if it exists, that direction.

If no one beats me to it, I'll do a search on my electronic copies after I get home from work tonight.

short discussion at the end of I Dare

Hi Rolanni,

The nearest I can remember is the passage at the end of I dare, where they discus relocating to Surebleak:
" "There is land beyond the city, which is only lightly lived in," Pat Rin said, looking at Val Con. "We might be situated as we have been here, near enough to port and city, with easy access at need." "And thus be invested in keeping the Port Road open." Val Con grinned. "Well-played, cousin."

I am not a LiveJournal user. I am purely a lurker... I enjoy reading yours very much in between books.

Isn't when Cheever is taking the taxi ride when he is delivering the turtles message. I dimly recall a reference to north of the city.

Val Con is telling Miri about family, etc. He says "We are located to the north of Solcintra City."

It is in the Chapter headed Lytaxin: Approaching Erob. Sorry, ebookwise page number wouldn't help.

Miri is worrying that she won't know anything.

Thank you. Since you have completed the search, I don't have to.

Solcintra or not?

Seems to me Penny's suggestion is more like your recollection -- in Carpe Diem, the thirteenth chapter, headed LIAD: Solcintra Port, during Cheever's taxi ride. The cab goes out of the city, and he remonstrates, saying "Where I want to go's in Solcintra," and the cabdriver says "Then you do not wish to go to Trealla Fantrol." Though no Korval is involved in the conversation.

You're right -- that's closer to the conversation I thought I remembered, but what I needed was the direction.

Has anyone considered setting up a Liaden Wiki project?

I'm doing a working wiki for Mouse and Dragon and [livejournal.com profile] mbarker kept a running wiki/lexicon (http://durendal.org:8080/twiki/bin/view/LiadLexicon/FledglingLexiconTable) for Fledgling and Saltation; there's also this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liaden).

Also, FWIW, in Carpe Diem, about 20 pages in, when Nova sends Shan a pinbeam from Trealla Fantrol, the source of the transmission is just north of Solcintra.

Continuity, we haz it!

Thank you.
