robotech_master provides this link to an interview with the founders of FiledBy (ref). The interview is interesting and there is opportunity to comment.
Naturally, one does not have to ask that those who may wish to comment please be courteous in expressing their opinion.
Took a look around and I can see some value to the site. However, if the founders expect profits pouring in, can't see that happening.
Noticed Maya Angelou was a featured author. That is a plus from my viewpoint.
Took a look at the for publishers stuff. Can't see that. $49 each to sponsor an author? PRobably the big publishers could afford it for new authors. Why bother for established? For small and micro publishers I can see better ways to spend that money.
OTOH, looking at my authors, I can see value. Half of the new authors we publish are totally lost when faced with the need for promotion, web presence, and so forth. This could be a fairly simple starting point using the free version. Some would never go beyond this. Others might think that isn't too painful and be open to trying more.
