End of Scene, End of Brain

...it's nice when those two states coincide, which happens Far Too Seldom Around Here. I'm just sayin'.

My back still hurts, dammit, and I'm a little puzzled as to how I'm going to walk up the hill tomorrow, bearing my canvas bag full of lunch and manuscript. I tried to fit the manuscript into my mini backpack, but -- no joy. Maybe my lunch will fit in there and I can carry the manuscript under my arm? That might work.

So, got to the End of the Big Scene. I think it works, but -- see End of Brain, above -- a final determination will have to wait on the morrow. On the whole, I'm pleased with how it all finally came together, morphing through two phases that didn't make any sense but had Dramatic! Punch! to this final phase, which may actually make sense and preserves Dramatic! Punch! Even the same Punch, though for a vastly different reason.

How's the Great Migration to Dream Width going? Everybody thinking they'll set up a permanent base there and just post through to LJ? I have to admit that I keep forgetting to do that, though it's nice to see so many familiar faces around the place. Makes it feel homey.

As a reward for finishing the Big Scene, and because Beginning of Scene, End of Brain is a really bad start-off combo, I am going to go eat some more aspirin and retire yet again to the comfy chair with The True Meaning of Smekday.

"Uncle Daav never misses," Shan said comfortably.

The object of this encompassing trust gave a shout of laughter, snatched the child off his shoulder and set him upright on his feet.

He dropped to one knee and peered into the small face.

"Even the quickest pilot sometimes misses," he said, seriously. "And it is not at all the thing to be ambushing your kin from the shrubberies."

I'm there. I'm crossposting. I prefer LJ because I have a paid account, a style I like, and more icons. If DW becomes vastly better in some way, I may move. Or if all my friends migrate to DW, never to return. Otherwise, it's a backup. No pressing need to make the switch.

I do hope your back feels better soon. I sympathise: I have been painting walls today, and am now very stiff. Tall wall + short me = sore muscles.

I do love the little snippets you post. The mixture of wry humour and seriousness is just so - well - so Liaden! Best of luck with the WiP.

I quite like DW.

I switched partly because I wanted to change my username -- it's already taken here on LJ.

I've got a Dreamwidth account. I'm still using mostly LJ for two reasons - primarily, I can read it from work, and secondarily, significantly more than half of my friends are still only on LJ. When I can get to DW from work, my usage is likely to go up. But I've got a permanent account and a lot of friends on LJ - I'll be here as long as my friends are. Which probably means until LJ goes belly-up.

Hum. Patting on the back isn't one of the exercises I've been given for back pain? Try (a) face down, bend knees up (so that feet are waving in the air above you) and then rotate feet through slow circles. 10 or so reps each direction. (b) Face up, bend one leg up so that knee is above you, foot is down. Now bring knee across body as if to touch floor. Hips will rotate up when you do this. Again, 10 or so reps each way. (c) slow toe touching -- this is to stretch out the back muscles. The first two were recommended by a yoga teacher, and seem to help most. The third was recommended by a fellow lower back pain sufferer, and does relax things. One key -- don't force it.

Y'a know, if you put that manuscript on a usb stick, I'll bet it will fit in your pocket.:-)

Yay for finishing the Big Scene!

I'm not on DW, except under my LJ OpenID to see what it's like. As others have said, I won't be using it until (a) it is open entrance or I get an 'invite' (sic) and (b) most of my friends are there and not posting in LJ. I don't have a paid LJ account, but I do not want to have to read in two places and try to remember which post was on which one and where I replied to what.

I signed up for Dreamwidth too, just to make sure I got my username. And I discovered that the html for their pages is much simpler, so it was much easier to customize the way I wanted (I actually use the custom CSS option). So I might switch over and mirror my entries on LJ.

Ya Think?

Could be the cause of your back pain.

Let us do it for you. We'll be happy to, we know you deserve them.
