Summer, just in time for Fall
Saturday, August 15th, 2009 05:16 pmSteve and I went to the ocean yesterday. The weather was sunny and hot, which was Just Perfect for the beach, though it intends to remain that way for the foreseeable future, which is not so Perfect, as I am no longer at the beach.
But! Yesterday, I walked miles along the ocean's edge, intending to pay my respects to Googin's Rock. Alas, the tide was in sufficiently to thwart my plan, and curtail my walk. Which is, perhaps, just as well. Googin's Rock is chancy at the best of times.
In the evening,
kinzel and I strolled out to Venetia's. On the way, we stopped at a local shop to, yanno, Look Around. Fifteen minutes later, we left with a denim shirt for himself with Old Orchard Beach* embroidered over the breast pocket, and a pair of hand-crafted and signed! pewter tree earrings for me, a gift from my husband.
We dined on diner fare, which is how one dines at Venetia's, then betook ourselves downtown, wandered the amusement park and the upstreet shops, went out on The Pier, sat in the square and people watched over a cup of gelato, and bye-n-bye regained our room.
It was a relaxing interlude, and I wish we could've stretched it into days. Unfortunately, I'm Needed (ahem) at the day-job on Monday, which ought to be, um, Interesting.
Tomorrow, I read Carousel Tides, which means that tonight I write an InfoDump, and perhaps prepare the Big Pile of Carpe Diem for auction.
What're y'all doing for fun?

*Why is it that all of one's denim shirts wear out at once?
