Craig Trader is the guy whose icon appears above yours at the top of the comments; it's a picture of him a la Southpark and it has a slight resemblance to you along these lines - male, bearded, glasses, brown(ish) hair.
Knitting is alchemy, definitely. Turning one long length of yarn into a three dimensional fitted object is an art form, imho.
