I have had a number of friends of late who have wrestled with a number of issues involving bad past associations to places and activities that once brought them joy. I offer to you the advice I gave them. Bad memories do not fade on their own. They must be written over with newer, happier memories. But only you can determine when you are ready to take that step.

Much as many of your readers would love to see more about Gem, only you can determine when you are prepared to re-write a better history of the story. I hope that when you decide the time has come, you find it easier than you had feared.

And if you decide that that time will never come, just keep writing.
