Took a slight wrong turn yesterday, among other things inventing a character I didn't need to do something I did need. Already had a Perfectly Good Character in place to perform the necessary action, and having him do it increases Tension (yaaaay, Tension!). Today's bit puts me a couple pages past the 100 mark, where things traditionally start to fall into place more quickly. (Ahem. Are you listening, Writing Brain?) I could use this story moving a little faster. In case anybody cares.

Cool, gray day, with rain sprinkles. The cats are curled in various warm places -- Mozart in an untidy curl on his rocker in my office; Scrabble in a comma against the baseboard unit next to the file cabinet; Max! in
kinzel's room cuddled up next to the Big Printer; Patia stretched out on the bed.
I'm working on a cold -- been headachy and sniffly all day. Think I'll fix myself a cup of tea, put something soothing in the CD player and curl up on the couch with grandma's african...
