Frequent readers of this periodical will recall that Lee and Miller had been commissioned to write a story for the front page of the new Baen website, said story to be featured in July.

The fact that we here in the Northern Hemisphere are now standing firmly on the Fourth Day of July, coupled with the fact that “Intelligent Design” has yet to appear on Baen’s front page has apparently occasioned some anxiety, to which we say, “Fear Not!” and also, “Stop hitting the refresh key before you sprain something!”

Baen swaps out its front page on the 15th of the month. “Intelligent Design” will therefore appear on — anyone?

Yes, thank you.

“Intelligent Design” will be published to the front page of the Baen website on Friday, July 15.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog.

I am one of the many who have been surreptitiously spamming the Baen refresh button...and any similarity to the famous "rat and pellet" experiments is entirely coincidental. Really. So, thanks for the update. This will tide me over until the serial venture gets underway. Hmmm...if I send you coffee will you write more? as a coffee shop here says "Coffee! you can sleep when you're dead!"

Looking forward to another Lee & Miller story!
By the way, is it too early to hope for another "Carousel" novel?

Thank you for the PSA. I can now stop saying to myself (in the tones of a five year old) - "Is it there yet? Is it there yet?" - and attempt to cultivate yet more patience.

Tsk, tsk *at impatient refresh people* This makes me feel quite intelligent, for having remembered Baen swaps out its stories the 15th!

Isn't it wonderful how we're all slavering and chomping at the bit, just waiting for another tale from the masters? Even if we aren't very ruly... Y'a know, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say, "He was a ruly child, quite patient and well-mannered." Odd failing of the normal curve, eh? Thanks!

We could probably be trained with M&Ms. One M&M now, or four tomorrow? Which do you choose? CHOMP!

The word from Madame the Editor is that she wishes to have Numbers from the first one. Numbers were not included in the last royalty statement we received, because Carousel Tides was published in November and the last statements only covered through October. It's possible that Madame will have seen Numbers sufficient to satisfy her by WorldCon...or not.

You know how it is.

It's lovely that y'all are so eager, but I figure three tense emails means that there are lots of other tense folks who are too proud to ask, but whose nerves deserve some relief, thus the PSA.

Actually, wasn't Ren Zel a quiet, tidy child? His uncles particularly liked this in him...

True, true. And I've heard rumors that over here http://splinteruniverse.com/ there might be more talk about that ruly child... something about kin ties (and untied? if one is ruly, the other unruly, then one must be tied, the other untied? Mirror, mirror...)

Thank you
I was wondering about that.
Now I have something more to look forward to.

"three tense emails" -- one past, one present and one future? Or emails each of which uses all three tenses? *g*

(I love the ambiguity of English. I remember someone saying that in heaven everyone will speak a 'perfect' language, to which my response was that I want to go to the other place, if I can't make puns it's not heaven...)

Indeed I do know.
Let's hope that Madame says 'yes'.
