A little under the weather today (boo! hiss!), and seriously thinking about joining Mozart, who has a very nice little thing going with the blankets and my pillow.

On the other hand, these stories aren’t going to write themselves.

Which pretty much sums up the Dilemma of the Self-Employed.

While I was dithering, I did some updatery of the Korval homepage, including linking to those artists who have created art on behalf of the Liaden Universe®. It’s an impressive list — go check it out; we’re seriously pleased that our work has inspired such lovely art.

One thing did strike me, though, as I was putting the list together. All of our cover/story artists? Are guys.

Which prompts the question — who are the female cover artists currently working in SF/F? Can anybody help me out with some names?

. . .in other news, Scrabble re-arranged my desk for me on the overnight, and I can’t find my calendar. This? Could be serious.

Janny Wurts and Jody Lee come to mind immediately. I know there are many other SF/Fantasy female artists, but I am not sure, off the top of my head, which of them do cover art.

Hope you feel better soon! The other female fantasy cover artists I can think of (after the two above) are Rowena Morrill, Trina Schart Hyman, and Catska Ench (although Catska almost always works with her husband).

I'm not sure if Lubov http://www.lubov.net/ has done covers but her art is awesome.

My personal goddess, whom I followed to lots of great female authors writing since the 80s is and remains Jody Lee (http://www.jodylee.org/website/index.html) (Jo Clayton, Michelle West, Mercedes Lackey, Tanya Huff, Fiona Patton, Katherine Kerr, for example - a LOT of work for DAW specifically) - I now own one of her originals, since she has offered some smaller ones on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/aStudiobytheSea?section_id=6457606).

I don't know if she does cover art, but there's also Sheila Rayyan, who also works with her husband Omar ...

Don't forget Diane Dillon [usually works with Leo Dillon, iirc].

There're also Tasha Tudor & Marguerite de Angeli, although they, like Trina Schart Hyman, are, sadly, deceased.
