In which the day becomes complicated

The rest of the day is shaping up this way:

1. Throw Dragon Ship proofs into FedEx box
2. Check mail
3. Go to physical therapy
4. Pick Socks up from hospital, Bast willing
5. Make fixes to “Landed Alien” and send to Madame the Editor
6. Prep for talk with first narrator, scheduled for tomorrow, noonish

Um…lunch. Gotta schedule lunch in there, somewhere.

I’ll see y’all later.

You go, girl!

Is Socks ok? After Hexapuma, one worries.

Best regards.

Socks is mending. The challenge we have is to feed him up without producing some other difficulty. And it would be nice if we could conquer the sniffle once! and! for! all! That's being...pretty tenacious. I hope he's not allergic to pine trees. . .

Thx. I'm glad he's with you guys now.

So, is it fair to guess that "Landed Alien" is the upcoming Liaden Universe tale for the Baen Website? July? OH!

(I will admit, I keep thinking of landed as in landing a fish, which makes that a humorous title as I think about just who might be fishing for aliens and how they might land one -- and why!)

And as long as I'm scribbling on your nice comment form, any hints as to where "Emancipated Child" will be shown? That's the other one, right?

Yes, we are paying attention...

[identity profile] rolanni.livejournal.com 2012-06-19 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Landed Alien" is intended for the Baen website, yep.

"Emancipated Child" is intended for Splinter Universe, and is on the list today, along with Welcoming the Contractor, Part II; and Pronunciation Seminar with Narrator

...and forgot.

"Landed Alien" was, when we moved to Maine, the Canadian legal status of those folks who were not Canadian, but who owned land in Canada. It has since, I believe, be changed to "Landed Immigrant," which isn't nearly so. . .evocative.

Aha! I should have thought of that. I have to carry around my alien registration card (yes, I am a card-carrying alien! Watch my antennae pop out! :-). And I can easily believe that owning land across the borders puts people in odd legal positions. Interesting. Thanks!

Absolutely irrelevant to anything in this post, I just wanted to let you know that I have (as of today) personally sold four copies of the Anthony Villiers omnibus, solely on the basis of the quoting the marvelous line "Are you a wonder or a marvel?"

Which is exactly the way that this very LJ first sold the series to me.

It is a great quote, isn't it?

Excellent work!
