In Which We Demonstrate Positive Fahrenheit
Sunday, January 23rd, 2005 07:58 pmOne degree F (-17C) outside. I think I saw 3F/-16C in the middle of the afternoon. The wind's down somewhat, though we're still getting some house-shakers; and the snow stopped sometime around noon.
Hot biscuits and refrigerator soup for lunch (broccoli, baked beans, potatoes, meatless balls, turkey gravy, corn, carrots, onions, chicken broth, a handful of noodles, garlic, Italian seasoning, bay leaves -- I like making soup). The soup turned out a little thick -- more a stew, really -- with a pleasant, aren't-you-glad-you're-inside-where's-it's-warm flavor -- and there's enough left over for another cold day in the not-too-distant future.
Sometime in and around all the excitement of making soup, I went through yesterday's scene, then Sabu, Mozart and I laid down the rough of today's chapter. After lunch, I transferred the file to the desktop and tidied it up while Mo slept the african into submission.
Tomorrow, early -- and I do mean early -- we're for Skowhegan and back-to-back appointments with the eye doctor. Gotta remember to ask Gerry about bifocal contact lenses, speaking of counterintuitive technology.
