rolanni: (Tea and dragon)

I think there can be no question that the Amazon MP3 Store is a Tool of the Devil.

Today, I barely escaped with my life credit card.  For, you see, I had remembered Leroy Anderson.  I managed
to limit myself  to The Waltzing Cat, The Typewriter, and Blue Tango*.  Not too bad, really, considering I'd gone to Amazon on purpose to buy Danse Macabre.  Of which I bought two.  No, don't ask.

Since my last electric letter, I baked a mince pie, built a Whole Buncha Bankers Boxes and transferred a Whole Buncha file folders to them (I'm told that there are households in the US that have neither file cabinets, nor Banker's Boxes, but I don't believe that can be so), glared at the computer screen, wrote words, unwrote words, wrote more words; assisted Steve in decorating the ceramic tree, and am looking with scant favor upon the prospect of setting up next year's 'count books.  Also on the dance card is vacuuming the house, but not the cats.

The fun never does stop.

In the spirit of the holiday, I hope you will allow me to remind you that ebooks make lovely gifts, and that the entire Lee and Miller oeuvre is now available, for Kindle, from Amazon; our novels and some of the short stories continue to be available in Every Format Known to Man directly from Baen.  In addition, all Lee and Miller eChapbooks are available at Barnes and Noble and from Smashwords.

Confused?  Visit Pinbeam Books for direct links to each title.

Looking beyond the holidays, I also take leave to remind you that you may pre-order a signed copy of Necessity's Child, the book formerly known as George, from Uncle Hugo's.  (I see that Amazon is hedging its bet on this edition, by allowing customers to sign up to be notified when the book shows up in their warehouse.  I suppose they're still embarrassed by the Dragon Ship debacle.)  Uncle also still have in stock some few signed copies of Dragon Ship (use the link above and scroll down the page).

I hope everyone will have a pleasant season, whatever, or if, you celebrate.  Stay safe, and remember to hug the people you love.

Nipped right over to Rhapsody to check out Mr. Anderson's ovre. I sighed with memories and longing at the mention of mince pies. My dad baked the best minced pies ever. One of my earliest memories is of him cutting lattice strips for the lattice top using the wheel that turned the beaters of the big red-handled egg beater, so they would have a zig-zagged edge. Alas, he turned 90 this year and (no thanks to macular degeneration) his pie baking days are long past. His secret extra ingredient was a jigger of scotch in the mincemeat. Thanks for the memories (you may hum the song if you like. Mr. Hope won't care). A joyous and delightful holiday season to you and yours.

Having just ordered myself a Kindle for (sic) Christmas, and having just begun ther oeuvre again from the beginning, this is just too timely. Are you psychic?

I fear for the budget.

Still trying to decide. Point in their favor. Found out there's a store in my very small town which can fix them if they go funny.

No, but plainly Ms. Weisskopf is.

A ceramic tree and cats? Oh the bravery! Oh the folly!

The ceramic tree has survived at least 30 seasons with cats; I expect it will survive this season, as well. We have had some cats who liked to steal the little plastic "lights," but that's been the worst that's ever befallen it.

In years when we have a so-called live tree, we just hang non-breakable balls on the bottom branches.

All of our cats have been extremely well-behaved. For values of "well-behaved" that include Max!'s ambush-from-the-top-of-an-open-door. . .

FYI the Amazon Canada site still takes pre-orders for the signed hardcover edition of Necessity's Child.

I think Conflict of Honors is in the Dragon Variation omnibus, with Local Custom and Scout's Progress. There isn't a Kindle version of the single title.

Thank you! When I looked again I saw that it was -hidden- under the "show more" link. The "Three space adventure novels" should have clued me in.
Purchase completed,
Sue H
PS - it was my 90ish dad that introduced me to your books & Conflict of Honors was his favorite.
