And home again

Mozart is back home.  The tests today showed that the kidney levels are indeed up.  The vet gave him a painkiller, after which he ate a little bit of regular gooshy food.  So, we have him back, with painkillers, and instructions to feed him whatever he'll eat, and call tomorrow with a progress report.

So...I'm not sure we've made any forwarder progress, here...

This is so hard on all of you. I am so sorry, and hope he will be more comfortable now. I'm sure he's happier at home than at the Vet's, no matter how good they are. Take care.

Kidney failure in cats

There will still be hope even if Mozart's kidneys continue to get worse. Sub-cutaneous fluids and other treatments can prolong both a cat's life and the quality of that life. There are more and more advances being made - please continue fighting for Mozart.

It's a very good sign that the painkillers made him feel better enough to eat--who knows? Maybe he has arthritis and it hurting him is what triggered the non-eating, which of course is terrible for the kidneys.

We have good news on our home front as well. Our sixteen year old cat is back home with us because she was feisty enough at the vet's that he feels it's worthwhile to try treatment. It may or may not work, but even if it doesn't work, we will be able to let her go knowing we gave her the best possible care.

Excellent! Fingers crossed for a successful treatment.

Most distressed to visit tonight and see these two entries. I very much hope the pain-killers continue to let the Eldest of the Clan continue to get the food he needs. Sending Mozart all best wishes from Texas.
