"If you want to be happy" was a Number One Hit in 1963, the year I turned 11. I loved the thing, and danced to it whenever it came on the radio.
But, yeah -- many issues, including the notion that just because a woman's "ugly," she's a good cook. And I will point out that some years later my dad taught me to do repairs and oil changes and whatnot on my car because it was so unlikely that I'd marry and thus have a man who would properly do them for me.
