I remember my only time in Maine - flew into Portland on a DC-7b, which landed and turned around on the runway to taxi back down the runway towards what passed for a terminal. Baggage claim was an open shed with a tin roof. It was cold and overcast the whole time.
Of course, this was back in the late 60's, when things weren't as sunny and civilized as I'm sure they are now (looking at Google maps satellite view.) ;)
