'tis the season
Saturday, April 24th, 2004 11:31 amThe combined trees of Maine are once again on my case. I s'pose I've always been allergic, and it's just the Sheer Numbers of trees up here that make spring so exciting for the sinuses. The first year we were here, I thought I was gonna die. Nowadays, I can usually breathe, which is pleasant, so Acclimation has taken place. To a point.
Of course, being as it was a high-pollen day and all, I cleverly went outside and finished up with the liberation of the wire fence. Cut back some other stuff while I was there, and did some raking. All of which meant a dose of antihistamine around about dinner time. Great stuff. Slept like a rock. Still a little drifty this morning, despite two cups of coffee.
Yesterday saw a copy of the May Chronicle (SFC-that-was) in the P.O. Box, with Miller and Lee staring blearily out from the cover. I console myself by remembering that the picture was taken at ConJose. The interview turned out reasonably well, giving the flavor of what it's like to talk to both of us at the same time. Be warned.
The story-without-a-title is about 500 words -- some of them quite strange -- long, and I'm not certain that "aetherium" is exactly what I mean to say. Must consider.
The first load of laundry is in, the email is answered and I'm gonna go curl up in the blue chair and finish _In Camelot's Shadow_.

Scary things you hear yourself say: "I've been washing your socks the same way for twenty-five years."
