Two views of Mount Washington

So this morning, Madame Belle went to the vet for her three-year rabies shot and her chip.  She has gained about a pound since last year; retirement agrees with her.  The mail was in the box when we came home, and I regret to report that the check still wanders the postal pathways between New York and Maine.  *pats checkbook reassuringly*

In other news, I seem to have caught a cold, which is. . .not perfect timing.  Am drinking tea with honey and will shortly take a nap, following Belle's example.  She's currently resting her nerves on the bookshelf next to my desk.

In other news, below are two shots of Mount Washington from the parking lot at Pine Point, yesterday, right around one o'clock.

It's on the list, along with a bunch of other stuff. (I'd like to see Niagra Falls; is that too much to ask?) But -- no, not yet.

We've been up the cog once, with TNH when she was visiting the north country one summer. Most of the engines are biodiesel these days, but the first one up in the morning is always the steam-powered one, and that's the one we took.

We drove up several years ago -- and I was waiting to fall off the mountain the entire time. I also did not dress warmly enough, and so it was not the exhilarating experience it could have been.

Now, Niagara Falls? My favorite place on the planet so far. Absolutely awe-inspiring. I hope you get there sooner rather than later.
