Monday, April 25th, 2005 09:26 amToday is the Feast Eve of St. Marcellinus:
As a third-century pope, Marcellinus was discovered publicly offering sacrifices to Roman gods, including Jupiter and Saturn. This incident helped plant the seed for the eventual development of the Church's doctrine of papal infallibility, meaning that the pope cannot err when defining matters of Christian faith or morals.
