Traded in the Blazer, drove the Forester home.

Much more Forester than I thought we we could possibly aspire to, as it happens. To wit, a 2002 Forester S, silver, with various Incredible Luxuries attendant thereto. Not only does the air conditioning work, it has a six CD changer/AM/FM/Cassette player, a sun roof, and -- wait for it -- heated leather seats. A sun roof and (a single, working) CD player/radio were on my personal wish list, and I was willing to settle for the working CD player/radio (who thought about heated leather seats? I thought they only came in, you know, Volvos and Saabs and other unobtainable transport devices), but -- the Goddess of Used Vehicles chose to smile and grant all my wishes, plus some. It has 70,000 miles on it, and we got it for a grand under Blue Book, plus a high trade-in on the Blazer. All of which means that the payments are just about the same, thereby doing Very Little Damage to what I like to think of as our budget.

And the damn' thing gets 22 - 30 mpg, compared to the Blazer's 19-21.

Will have to think of a better referent than "it" -- the Blazer sorta went by The Truck, and the Buick, formerly [livejournal.com profile] kinzel's, was never formally named. My last car before inheriting the Buick upon [livejournal.com profile] kinzel's acquisition of The Truck came to Garnet because of her color, and the one before that was Vickie, a shortening of Crown Victoria. Now that I come to think of it, in fact, the last vehicle that showed any sort of Naming Panache was Clancy. Really, we must do better for the Forester.

...I wonder if we need anything in town...

Congratulations! I love my Subaru, a Justy (5-door w/on-demand 4WD) which is nicer and better designed than most any other car I've driven. Except the Forester they loaned me one day. But it felt huge compared to the Justy.

Love Subarus.

Congrats!

I'm looking at replacements for my SUV, (14-19 mpg, premium only please or I'll cough at you, but look at all the nice luxuries you get in a Benz).

Forester, Highlander and other more fuel efficient SUV's are high on my list (I've gotten used to sitting up high more then anything else).

A name for the forester, do I sense a contest coming on? (here or in you SFF.net ng even?)

Enjoy the ride!

Foresters have been almost completely restyled over the past few years. The 2002s were the last of the Birkenstock models, but I wanted a Birkie.

I saw a new model on the road yesterday--they appear to ride a little higher off the ground than they used to.

*squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

My Kuro is a 2002 S model as well--they very nice. Many bells and whistles.

You have leather? Cool. Given that I didn't know if I would ever have to transport the pups in mine, I didn't want to risk leather. One paw in the wrong place, and oh the rips...

You will *SO* love those heated seats in the winter--even down here, I let my friend with the heated seats drive when we go out to eat during the winter.
