A couple of writing-related things of possible interest:

Meisha Merlin is in the midst of a Major Website Redesign. Cool new splash pages, lotsa art -- all very spiff and well worth a look. As part of that redesign, we were asked to provide a teaser and an excerpt for Crystal Dragon. We've done that, and they ought to be up soon, along with the new cover art. Ya'll are gonna really like this cover art...

The Golden Duck Awards has bestowed upon Balance of Trade by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, published by Meisha Merlin, the Hal Clement Award for Best Young Adult Science Fiction Novel of 2004. Presentation of the award -- which includes a cash prize and a scroll -- to be made at WorldCon and at NASFiC. While it's always nice to see one's work recognized, we're especially pleased that Balance took the Clement Award. Not only was Hal a nice man and a part of the social geography for all of our fannish lives, but his work forms a solid section of our genre underpinnings. Sorta makes us feel like we got it right...

We can't be at Glasgow, and Seattle doesn't look too likely. Perhaps our paths will cross. Valerie (my intended) and I are getting hitched on 8/21 and considerig flying out to northen california and driving sedately north, stopping at wineries and pleasant vistas and old bookstores and the occasional B&B by way of a honeymoon, ending Seattle on 9/1. It's not yet clear if our travels will take us north of the emerald city or not, but I'd like to see a bit of B.C. if we can swing it.

Congrats on the impending two five.
