Here at the Cat Farm and Confusion Factory's new location, proofreading of the 30th Anniversary Edition of Agent of Change continues to go forth.  Given the sorts of errors that have been identified -- dropped words and paragraphs -- this one may warrant a third pass.  Happily, we have until August to return it to Baen.

Work also goes forth on a Liaden short story commissioned for a space opera anthology; which has an August delivery.  And of course planning continues on Accepting the Lance.

We have also been continuing with Necessary Adjustments to the house.  This week's triumph was the installation of the pantry, which was completed yesterday.  Today, April will stop by to measure for the countertop, and I need to ask her about the microwave shelf, which needs some adjustment, but, for all intents and purposes, we have pantry!  And now I get these stupid boxes out of my living room.

. . .which will then, of course, be replaced with whole other stupid boxes, as we get the Tech Room sorted out.

Sooner or later, we'll achieve a State of No Boxes and no contractors/installers, but I fear it will not be soon.  And I do have to keep reminding myself that we haven't even been living here for a full month.

What a beautiful pantry! My parents just redid theirs with those deep sliding shelves, too. They're really wonderful, since shorter things aren't irretrievably lost in the back. What will go on the countertop?

My mother has the sliding shelves as well, and they are so convenient. I have shelf envy each time I visit. This is such a gorgeous pantry!

On the countertop? Probably our mail, though we're tying to do better about that. The material will be a laminate that sorta, kinda matches the granite tiles that make up the kitchen countertop. The designer is a lot more concerned with things "matching" than I am, I fear. . .

We were lucky that the nook in the first picture was basically just wasted space. There had been, so we were told, a large antique china closet/buffet in that space, back in the day. We, of course, have no such piece of furniture, much less china or silver.

Ah. I did have one nook that fit into the wasted space category. Friends for a birthday gift installed shelf holders and stained shelves for it and it's become my 'favourite books shelf near my bedroom when I don't want to walk all the way to the study'. Needless to say the Liaden books are on there.

Nice pantry. One of the things I did when having my kitchen redone was to make sure most of the cupboards had slide out shelves. It makes not having things lost in the back a thing of the past.

Even though my pantry part of it is only 15 inches wide, there is a surprising amount of storage.

To be fair, panfrying is an option, albeit probably not in the pantry.
