The Friday after the Thursday before

Today, we work. Tonight, we journey into Downtown Waterville, to see Hot Tuna in concert. Steve bought these tickets, what? a year ago? So this is our Official Gift to Ourselves for the 38th Anniversary of Having Done the Legal.

Tonight's event will be enlivened, if that's the word I want, by the Parade of Lights, which will close off Main Street at 5 pm. The parade starts (it says here) at 6 pm. The doors to the Opera House (on Main Street) open at 7pm, and the show starts at 8 pm.

I have a feeling that Timing Will Be, if not Everything, Than Verrrry Close Indeed.

I see here that one is not allowed to bring bags of any sort into the Opera House; we are advised to bring wallets only. I therefore advise the paparazzi that my fashion choice this evening is cargo pants (and a bulky sweater with another sweater under it, on account it's gonna be COLD tonight).

We had T-day dinner at friends' so no leftovers, which is why I baked some store-bought cornbread dressing and zotted some deli turkey in the microwave and opened a can of jellied cranberry sauce for tonight's supper. I will happily nosh on that for the next four or five days, and play the "Can I make it all come out even?" game. I split a pumpkin pie with my mom, so I'll have that for afters. Hug your kitties for me. I lost my last one in January, the first time in 21 years I've been catless. There will be more, but not until my 94-year-old mom gets too old to travel.

How was your concert? I have their eponymous cd, but haven't listened to it in a while.

The concert was terrific.

I'm so glad we went. We had first row seats. Happily, the show was acoustic, so no ear drums were harmed in the listening. Jorma and Jack have incredible chemistry on-stage; the audience was with them every note of the way.

In some ways, it was like spending a holiday evening with your musical uncles: relaxing and invigorating at the same time.

And! In Travel Is Broadening, and Also Expensive, for Two Hundred, we also learned that
the Dave Bromberg Quartet is going to be at the Opera House in April. Yes, we already bought tickets...

I'm glad y'all had such a good time. We had a similar experience when Robin Bullock & Steve Baughman performed an hour or so away a couple of years ago.

For the April show, I hope y'all're able to choose your seats. It'll give you something fun to look forward to through the winter months.
