I saw about the singing hard drive. I have one thing to suggest.

Put it in the freezer.

Honesty, it worked for me a little while back, I was able to do a fast recover on the system and pull off most or all of the old files before it died again and we decided not to push our luck.

It's a little tricky, and you want to get the drive as cold as possible.

If it's not too late to try, fingers crossed for you!

Feragushas the truth of it. we tried this ourselfs once on a drive we were sure was toast and mamaged to save many Baby pic's that we save nowhere else.
