Counting the White Stones Only
Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 03:39 pmHave I mentioned how much I enjoy driving Argent the Forester? Zippy little car, stable on the road, the air conditioner works, the sound system is beautiful, and I adore the moonroof. Plus the gas mileage is not to sneeze at, not at all, no.
Also? My roses are blooming, icing the hillside with pink-and-white flowers.
The mixed wild flowers are coming up in the Cat Garden, despite having been planted late; we should be seeing some actual blossoms there in a week or two.
The hummingbird and his lady have made our deck a frequent nectaring place, joining the growing brawl of goldfinches, chickadees, catbirds, woodpeckers, nuthatches...
The cats are all asleep in various helpful places, and I'm looking forward to reading Howl's Moving Castle.
We watched Whale Rider last night -- another in a series of movies in which "nothing happens" (this by way of Local Custom's fond editor, who invariably describes it as, "the book where nothing happens"), and delightfully, too. Still in house are Men on a Train and Spirited Away, and I'm looking forward to seeing them, too.
