Wow!

Did you commission what you wanted, or did the artist just say "Time to design the ultimate space station!"? 8^)

And color, too. Very neat.

The artist (and his wife, too)is a regular Lee & Miller reader, and we had a nice long conversation at the recent Noreascon when he came to get some books signed... wherein he suggested he'd *really* like a shot at doing a Korval tradeship and some point, and left us his business card. I asked him to do a couple chapbook covers (which he did, and we're pleased with), and it felt like we could work together pretty well.

So, when opportunity arose, we called on him... and we talked back and forth a bit. What may not be evident at this on-line resolution is that the green band at the top of the ship is.... a ring of tree-and-dragon logos.

I don't know if it's in budget (all those pesky medical things, as also going on here...) but a friend of mine, Carole ND, for a long time bought the cover art (before she started getting artists charging an arm and a leg) which she carefully toted around to appearances and signings--and then wrote off as publicity. Fans were wowed by the cover art, need I say?

The one time I checked for cover art, it might as well have been the moon--but you might ask your accountant if it's still true. Or I can ask Carole this weekend at Conmisterio....

(I hope this made sense...)

We own the original art for the original Del Rey Agent of Change ...
which we coudln't have afforded without the clear business necessity of carting it to signings and library readings and such. And yes,
the real art in person can be very effective...
