Screwed up my back !again! This would be easier to bear if I had any idea what I'd done. And, of course, none of the available muscle relaxants are doing Anything At All.

Anybody know a source for 'Way Cool Canes?

Date: 2005-08-15 01:34 pm (UTC)Muscular. As in, everything's fine, I haven't done one thing out of the ordinary, and suddenly the muscles decide it's a fine day to spasm. Grrr....
What's a Critz?
Is this lower, middle or upper back?
Left lower, for the worst of it. As it's been easing off, the rest of my back is sore and tired -- likely from having had to do double-work for them what was goofin' off.

Date: 2005-08-16 09:58 am (UTC)Odds are, if it's muscle, it's your Quadratus Lumboram (QL) and a bit of the Erector Spinae. But...there's a slight chance the multifidi are involved, and that's almost impossible to explain without your being here. The tape/DVD of this technique can teach you the first four moves, but I hate for you to spend the money if it's more than that. (The tape also teaches advanced stuff, but I know good therapists who didn't get it from watching the tape.)
To simplify--you're probably overstretched on the opposite side, and too compressed on the hurting side. YOu need a guided isometric to help it go back to normal. But you need to do the psoas and piriformis first, before the RA and QL--or the fix won't hold.

Maybe I can get a copy of my tape made for you. But I have convention madness descending, so probably not soon.
Ice is your friend, in the meantime.
