...a six-hour shift at the dayjob, plus four hours scheduled for Saturday. A far cry from the craziness that was the Christmas peak buying season.

Today produced many wonders, not the least of which is a loaf of anadama bread, a freshly vacuumed house, two brushed Maine Coon cats (Dulsey is pretty sure that neither grooming nor vacuuming is in her contract), and some solid work done on the BWaN. I actually wrote more words than I get to count -- went down a blind alley and had to back-track about six hundred words.

In other news, we have about three inches of new snow on the ground, which is pleasant, and another carousel book was waiting at the post office box when [livejournal.com profile] kinzel checked in this morning, which is also very nice. This morning also brought about 18 turkeys into the dooryard, to the consternation of Scrabble, who raced through the house, leaping into windows without regard to her personal safety, or to mine, in order to keep them in her sights.

I see that today's high in Colorado Springs was 48 degrees F; 50 in Denver, while the high here in beautiful downtown East Winslow was about 28. It's going to be a challenge to pack for COSine; my winter clothes are going to be too warm, and my summer clothes too cool. Hmm. Must consider mix-n-match options in the closet.

Day job? I _have_ been off Live Journal too long. When did this happen?

Day jobs are the pits, unless you're working in your field. Mine is ok [former freelance client hired me full-time, I took it 'cause hubby needs the health coverage] but now I can't write any articles related to my employer unless I do it pro-bono [double-dipping is what I think they call it].

Back in late October/early November. Seasonal phone work at LLBean. You haven't really lived until you've done catalog phones during Christmas...

If Bean doesn't keep me on as a long-term temp, I'm going to need to come up with something else -- that ought to be easier, now that I have "current experience." The complaint from previous prospective employers was that I had no current job experience, having been, ahem, "unemployed" for over five years...
