As rumored elsewhere, we are home. Penguicon 4.0 was a blast; they spoiled us shamefully and I wanna go back. Watch this space for a more formal con report.

Yesterday, we went to the printer and picked up the rest of the run of Calamity's Child and did a bunch of silly, niggly errands. Afterwards, we reposed ourselves with the cats and watched an Extremely Silly and Very Satisfying Movie, thereafter seeking an early bed.

Today, we signed chapbooks, spoiled cats, printed labels, started the laundry, spoiled cats, printed SRM catalogs and newsletters, wrote, spoiled cats -- you get the idea.

One of the things I was able to do during our trip was map out the next six chapters of the Book Without a Name, so things ought to move along a little more rapidly on that front. I really hope to have a finished first draft by the end of May, so it can cool while I do the revisions on Gun Shy.

Thought I ordered that chapbook two weeks ago.

Heading for the link...

Ah, question....

This is probably the time of night, but...I clicked on the new chapbook, clicked continue shopping, found Gunshy and clicked on that link -- and was brought to a Paypal page with no sign of the chapbook.

Does this mean I must arrange two different purchases, or does this mean [livejournal.com profile] kinzel needs to adjust the click-throughs?

Welcome back... And you're going to make us ask, right? All right.. What was the Extremely Silly and Very Satisfying Movie?

You asked....

"Does this mean I must arrange two different purchases, or does this mean kinzel needs to adjust the click-throughs?"

... the answer is, yes.

Gunshy is available to pre-order -- it won't be out for months. If you wish to wait for the end of August to get your copy of Calamity's Child, which we're shipping right now, yes we are, then you'll need to wait to order the pair together when Gunshy goes off of pre-order and is instantly available.

This is not a click through problem -- it's because we've had a lot of experience with people ordering two items (one on pre-order and thus not going to be shipped for *some time yet*) and then, in a week or three, complaining that they haven't gotten the order even though the pre-order item is clearly months from publication.

So, if you order Gunshy at this point you're ordering a copy that will be signed and shipped when it's printed. If you order Calamity's Child at this point it's a regular SRM Publisher order from stock -- just go to our regular catalog page at www.korval.com/srmcat2.htm to order.

Hope this is clear; we've been working at this for ten years and are still learning.

You and [livejournal.com profile] kinzel might be amused by John Scalzi's comments on Penguicon. Among other things, he talks about how the hotel decided they weren't comfortable with folks discussing warfare in the Pit, so they asked them to move it to the Con Suite--which wouldn't work since your Stuffed Animal Tea Party was taking place there. So they decided to have the panel in the pit, but used the euphemism "Tea Party" for "War" and ran with it, to the amusement of all involved. Alas, I missed both, since they conflicted with Frank Hayes' Concert.

Actually, we'd seen John after the Tea Parties in SF panel. While I had a blast at the Plushie Tea Party, I wish I could've been at the panel -- oh, wait. Tobias recorded it....

Well done -- props to the panelists and the audience.

Have a cup of tea... (http://www.tobiasbuckell.com/wordpress/?p=2147)

What was the Extremely Silly and Very Satisfying Movie?

[livejournal.com profile] medievalist kindly provided me with a copy of Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother, which was just as wonderful as I recalled.

The good news is, it wasn't too late in the evening. I even realized that the book would not come for months.

Now, I merely have to find another pocket of time to do the ordering.

Thank you!
