...sorta. Mulch and/or pine bark still needs to happen, and other smallchores need to be done. But the plants are in the ground and have had their drinks, and that's what counts. We now have the following:
One (1) Black Knight Butterfly Bush, and three each of:
Penstemon
Dragonflower
Keys of Heaven
Monardas
Asters
Dragonflower, for those who, like me, have never seen them in the pre-plant stage, are a lot like woody squid. They remind one almost overwhelmingly of the mandrake roots, as depicted in the Harry Potter movies. Very, very weird. I hope they do well. Heck, I hope they all do well, considering the amount of work
kinzel put into the project. Many holes were dug today in the shale-and-clay mix that passes for our soil, and he dug every one.
We have planted in a sort of wobbly arc, out from the original Cat Garden.
kinzel believes that he will be planting a new batch of wild flowers in the former spot.
After we bury Max!'s ashes.
*Pauses. Clears throat.*
So, then, along about the middle of June, there should be a good many happy butterflies and hummingbirds around the Fortress of Solitude, if we can keep the free-range chickens from crossing the street and scratching up the plants.
Movie tonight, with wine, after showers. Writing tomorrow.
